Description
Strictly speaking, a Double is a variation on an instrumental or vocal piece. Bach' s Partita n° 1 for solo violin features four such Doubles following (respectively) the Allemande, Courante, Sarabande and Bourrée. This insight into Bach's creative process and compositional genius is a truly unique experience ! Karol Beffa's set of four Doubles was commissioned by Suresnes Conservatoire as an addition to Bach's original compositions: passing the baton, as it were, and 'redoubling' beauty. We are grateful to Karol Beffa for meeting the challenge and giving violin-players of all ages a wonderful opportunity to redouble their musical pleasure. Bruno GARLEJ
