Description
Rhizome: a modified stem running underground, producing roots and shoots from its nodes. Vivacious music stemming from a simple musical root and spreading out in multiple horizontal and vertical directions. Starting from E flat (the key of the Alto saxophone) as a tribute to Glazunov’s concerto, the rhizome first sends shoots toward its adjacent pitches E and D before spreading out to cover the whole range of the instrument. Sustaining the resonances, the accompanying string ensemble adds its own particular sonic texture and musical richness to the soloist’s utterances.
